Rate of Pay:

· Restaurant Host $ 10.00 per hour

· Restaurant Server $8.00 plus tips

· Restaurant Supervisor $14.00

It is customary in the US to work in “gratuity” positions. In these positions, you will receive a base hourly salary plus gratuity (tips). While the amount of a gratuity is ultimately at the discretion of the guest, the customary tip is 15-20% of the total bill before tax. Based on history, you may expect to earn around $21.00 per hour.

Benefits: No holiday pay. A Meal is provided at a rate of $3.00 per meal. A uniform will be offered upon arrival. After 90 days you would be eligible for the Marriott Room Discount program. The hotel will house you up to two weeks upon your arrival to the USA.

Candidate will need to have a black shirt (with collar) and Black Pants. Also non-slip shoes are needed. An Apron is provided by host company.

· Restaurant Supervisor $14.00.

Housing in Atlanta can be affordable. Most one bedroom apartments start around $1400 per month (not including furnishings and utilities), however it is recommended that you research thoroughly. HRC recommends J-1 exchange visitors to look into options of sharing housing with other locals and/or J-1 exchange visitors. By doing so, you can reduce the costs per month. You can also reduce costs if you are willing to live outside the city and take public transportation. Transportation: While there is public transportation in downtown Atlanta, accessibility is limited outside the city. If you will need to purchase a vehicle, HRC suggests that you bring an additional $3000 to accommodate the costs associated with purchasing both the vehicle and vehicle insurance.
