Westin Downtown DC is seeking a candidate to rotate through this program as it provides a comprehensive culinary experience by rotating participants through three key kitchen roles: Garde Manger for cold food preparation and presentation, Meat/Grill Hotline Demi Chef for grilling and hot stations, and Banquets Demi Chef for large event catering and culinary coordination.

Placement Remarks
$23 Per Hour
For Culinary, black, closed non-slip shoes required.
Meals are provided complimentary for employees. Should employees elect to bring their own food items, microwaves and refrigeration are available in employee cafeteria.
Students will accrue 9 days of Paid Time Off over the 12 month period. Time is accrued based on hours worked and is available for students to begin using after 90 days in position.
Airport pickup will not be provided.
Dulles International Airport & Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Both airports are on DC Metrorail and students can reach the hotel via this public transportation system.
Hotel is open to providing one week, open to extend on case by case basis based on housing search challenges.
Hotel is easily accessible via DC Metro (Public transportation system)

Requirements
Eligibility criteria for our Career USA programs:
- You are enrolled in a post secondary ministerially recognized academic institution in the hospitality industry OR have a hospitality degree and at least 1 year of recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside of the USA) OR have 5 years recent relevant work experience in the (ultra) luxury hotel industry (outside the USA)
- You have shown consistent career growth over the last years
- You have shown serious commitment to your most recent employers

Housing:
Washington DC Metro area, and the surrounding areas like Alexandria and Arlington, is expensive. A 1-bedroom apartment can start around $1,800+ per month, unfurnished.
HRC places over 30 J1's in D.C. every year so there are plenty of other J1's to help you get settled in the area!
We recommend that you consider rooming with another J-1 or local share the cost of the living. The metro is very reliable, which allows the option to live outside the city where the cost of living will be a bit less expensive.
