Housing:
Housing in Savannah can be affordable. A 1-bedroom apartment averages $1200+ per month, unfurnished.
Keep in mind without any credit in the USA you will need to pay the first and last month's rent as a deposit. This is why HRC recommends that you consider rooming with another J-1 or local to share the cost of the living.
Transportation:
HRC also recommends that you purchase a vehicle because Savannah has limited public transportation. The average cost for a reliable vehicle is around $3,000 USD.
