Local attractions

Alexander’s is located in the community of Mountain View. Mountain View is a city in Santa Clara County, in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. It is named for its views of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Situated in Silicon Valley, Mountain View is home to many high technology companies. Today, many of the largest technology companies in the world are headquartered in the city, including Google, Mozilla Foundation, Symantec, Symphony Teleca and Intuit.

One of the best parts of being in Mountain View is the close proximity to San Francisco. San Francisco is a world class city, acting as the center piece of the appropriately named “San Francisco Bay Area”. With all of the typical amenities you would expect in a city of its caliber, like restaurants of every kind, shopping of equal or even better quality, the city is uniquely historic as well. Founded all the way back in 1776, San Francisco is among the oldest west coast cities in America, and it shows in their classic style of architecture. One of the most famous attractions in San Francisco, and the only moving U.S. National Historic Landmark, are the San Francisco Cable Cars, which double as both a landmark and a handy way of getting around the city! Other world famous attractions include Alcatraz Island, Fisherman’s Wharf, and The Golden Gate Bridge along with Golden Gate Park, Chinatown, Union Square, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory, among many others! Below is a list of some of the exciting things that San Francisco has to offer you, plus links where you can find out more information about specifics.

Endorsements:

Claire Z. for TripAdvisor: “Amazing pastries! I came here with my mom at around 1:30pm on a Saturday, just barely beating the post-lunch crew. Luckily, we were able to snag a seat, but the turnover was pretty quick. We got the London fog and the matcha roulade cakes. The London fog was a little sweet towards the end, but both were absolutely delicious! We also got the kouign amman, which was perfectly flaky and buttery. Definitely better tasting and more interesting than a croissant!”

Alison D. for TripAdvisor: “Came here on a whim, and it was such a lovely shop in downtown Mountain View! I got a chocolate croissant and hot chocolate, ad just sat down to enjoy. The ambiance is uptown chic, but still casual. Definitely a great place to come and do work, but the temptation with all of the lovely pastries may be tough. They look amazing, and they taste amazing too! One of the best chocolate croissants I've ever had! They're definitely pricey, so this is not an everyday coffee shop in my opinion, but great for casual dates, or meeting up with friends. I would also do informal business meetings here too!”

Transportation:

Mountain View is a very walking-friendly community, so getting around by either foot or bike should be easy. That being said, travelling around beyond Mountain View could prove challenging. For instance, San Francisco is a very hilly city, so walking can be a bit challenging if you are not using public transportation. That being said, it is entirely possible to walk around the city and get around completely fine. However, below are some links to San Francisco public transportation websites.
