The program is designed to be flexible towards each individual trainee's skills and interests but will give the trainee an opportunity to experience and learn from each of the culinary areas in the hotel.

After 6 hours of work the employee needs to take a 30 minute meal break (unpaid). If they want to purchase a meal from the employee cafeteria it will cost $3.50

Grand Hotel offers employee housing at a subsidized rate of $102.50 per week which can be auto deducted from the associate’s paycheck. The rent includes all utilities (electricity, water, sewer, trash) plus basic cable and phone. J1 Residents can set up their own Internet service through Mediacom. Rent also includes transportation to/from the hotel along with potential transportation. The units are dormitory style with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with no more than 8 occupants of the same gender per unit (2 per bedroom). Kitchen, laundry room, living/dining room are shared areas. There would be a $200 deposit, taken out in increments of $50 for the first 4 paychecks along with normal weekly rent of $102.50. Up to $100 of the deposit is refundable upon vacating the unit provided the occupant complied with the terms of the lease agreement. Employee housing is double occupancy rooms for same gender candidates. Housing rate subject to change in 2022 to reflect market increase.
Transportation from housing to the hotel is provided within the cost of housing.
If travel outside of the area is desired you will need to find your own transportation. For this a rideshare can be used but the purchase of a vehicle may be necessary. Please keep in mind insurance will be required if purchasing a vehicle. You can expect to pay approximately $150 per month for insurance. HRC recommends you bring at lest $2,500 if purchasing a vehicle.
Point Clear can get very hot during the summer months (June-August) but will stay mild throughout the winter (November-January). Average temperatures for the area year round range from 38F (3C) to 90F (32C). Point Clear is sunny 220 days out of the year, but can see around 67 inches of rainfall throughout the year, especially during hurricane season on the gulf.
